Protect the area and leave thawing and repair to qualified parties

Keep away from electrical hazards, wet finishes, and inaccessible cavities. Do not use open flame, a torch, improvised electrical heating, or a method that cannot be continuously controlled.

Record which fixtures have no or reduced flow, hot or cold difference, room, exterior wall or unheated area, temperature timing, visible frost, and whether water is already leaking.

Ask the provider how the area will be isolated, accessed, thawed safely, inspected for splits, restored gradually, tested, insulated or rerouted if appropriate, and coordinated with finish work.

Retain the verified freeze location, damaged segment, repair, test, affected insulation or finishes, prevention recommendation, permit when applicable, and any heating or building-envelope handoff.
