Turn a water mark or drip into a time, location, and use pattern

Mark the room, wall direction, cabinet, ceiling, floor, fixture, appliance, and upper or lower level. Keep clear of electricity and unstable finishes. Use a consistent photograph position.

Record first discovery, water color, temperature if safely observable, odor, sound, spread, nearby fixture use, appliance operation, weather, and recent work. Avoid tasting, touching contaminated water, or recreating the leak.

Ask how the provider will distinguish supply, drainage, fixture seal, appliance, heating, roof, condensation, or exterior entry. The report should identify confirmed, plausible, and unexamined paths.

Keep the original timeline, photographs, isolation action, opened-condition record supplied by the provider, repaired component, test, drying handoff, and recurrence monitoring together.
